RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE
AMELIA LAPENA-BONIFACIO LITERARY CONTEST 2000.
(Short Story & PoetryP
Sponsored by the
Department of English and Comparative Literature
in cooperation with the
Office of the Chancellor
and the
Likhaan: U.P. Creative Writing Center
 
 
1. The contest is open to bona-dife undergraduate and graduate students of U.P. Diliman who are enrolled in the semester that the contest is held (The contest in not open to faculty members of the English Department). 

2. Authors may submit not more than 2 entries in each category. 

3. The author should not put his real name or college on any copy of his entry. He should sign each entry with a pen name and submit the same with a sealed envelope on the outside of which should be written the category, title of entry, and pen name. Inside the envelope should also be a slip of paper containing the title of the entry, the real name of the author, the author's address and telephone number, and the author's college. 

4. Only unpublished works may be entered. 

5. Only works which have not won a prize in another contest may be entered. 

6. In the short story category, an entry must not be longer than 20 pages. 

7. In the poetry category, an entry must consist of at least 5 poems. 

8. All entries must be written in English and must show a certain degree of mastery of the English language. 

9. Entries may be on any subject or theme. 

10. The author shall retain ownership of the copyright to his award-winning work. However, the sponsor shall have the right ot first publication of the work. Editors designated by the sponsor may edit portions of the work to suit demands of publication. 

11. The prize will be withdrawn from any author found to have plagiarized his winning entry entirely or in part. 

12. Entries must be addressed to Professor Emil Flores, DECL, FC, UP Diliman, and submitted not later than February 8, 2000. 

13. All entries should be submited in four (4) copies including the original. They should be typewritten or computer-typed, double-spaces, on regular size (8 1/2 x 11 inches) bond paper, with one-inch margins on all sides. 

14. The Board of Judges shall have the discretion not to award any prize if in its judgment no meritorious entry has been submitted. 

15. The sponsor has the sole right to designate the persons who shall constitute the Board of Judges in each of the categories. 

16. The names of the winners and the names of the Board of Judges shall be announced on or about February 22, 2000. 

17. All parties submitting entries are deemed to have accepted the rules of the contest, and agree to abide thereby.
